Brooke Myers wants to believe she has it all: the perfect guy, the perfect relationship, the perfect life. She wants to believe it so much that she's willing to overlook the fear, the isolation, and the pain her boyfriend has caused her. She knows it isn't right but tells herself that love isn't always easy. However, when a fire destroys the restaurant during homecoming dinner, she forms an instant bond with the boy who saves her, one her boyfriend wouldn’t like. With the pain of a concussion reminding her of how bad things can get, she is forced to re-evaluate the relationship she has with her boyfriend and face the ghosts that haunt her. Brooke once believed love was all it took…but is it enough? Is it truly love when you've lost yourself in it?

My Review:
This is another one of those books that grips you from the first chapter.  It is such a good, wonderfully written novel.  I have to admit some parts are hard to read but it will change your life.

Brooke has always been a good girl.  When the handsome and popular, Drew, starts talking to her and asking her out, she falls hard for him.  They are the perfect couple.  The pretty and polite girl and the handsome and wealthy football star.  It sounds too good to be true.

After a devastating fire, Brooke is saved by the also handsome Cooper, who is very different than Drew.  Brooke has to examine her life and decide what is best for her.  She really loves Drew and is fiercely loyal to him but love shouldn't hurt, right?  With a shocking twist, she finally decides what she needs to do, who she needs to hold onto, and who she needs to let go.

This is the first book that I have read in a long time that made me angry.  It is hard for me to comprehend how someone stays with an abusive partner. How awful it must be to live in fear every moment of your life.   This is a touchy subject and the author did a wonderful job bringing the story to life.  I recommend this book for everyone!
